چکیده

The Microvariability and Oscillations of STars (MOST ) photometric satellite observed three rotations of Eri continuously in late 2005. We detected two spots ( m 0:01) at different latitudes (20N0, 31N5) revolving with different periods (11.35 days, 11.55 days), from which we derive a differential rotation coefficient, k 1⁄4 0:11þ:03 :02, in agreement with the prediction by Brown and coworkers for a young Sun-like star having roughly twice the solar angular velocity. The light curve was analyzed with the program StarSpotz, a modification of SPOTMODEL by Ribárik and coworkers. The best-fitting value for the inclination angle i 1⁄4 30 3 is compatible with inclinations already estimated for the disk ( 25 ) and planetary orbit (26N2). The inclination also leads to an equatorial rotation speed of 3.42 km s 1 and the photometric value of v sin i 1⁄4 1:7 km s . When compared with spectroscopically determined values, the photometric v sin i allows, in principle, an independent estimate of the macroturbulent velocity. Both spots would have distorted the radial velocity curve 10 m s 1 by the Rossiter-McLaughlin effect, which is similar to the stellar radial velocity ‘‘noise’’ detected by others. Details of the StarSpotz model and of the uniqueness tests that we applied in order to arrive at a best solution and realistic estimates of errors in the derived parameters are given. Detecting a rotation in the ǫ Eridani debris disc

The evidence for a rotation of the ǫ Eridani debris disc is examined. Data at 850 μm wavelength were previously obtained using the Submillimetre Common User Bolometer Array (SCUBA) over periods in 1997-1998 and 2000-2002. By χ fitting after shift and rotation operations, images from these two epochs were compared to recover proper motion and orbital motion of the disc. The same procedures were ...

We have used the InfraRed Array Camera (IRAC) onboard the Spitzer Space telescope to search for low mass companions of the nearby debris disk star ǫ Eri-dani. The star was observed in two epochs 39 days apart, with different focal plane rotation to allow the subtraction of the instrumental Point Spread Function , achieving a maximum sensitivity of 0.01 MJy/sr at 3.6 and 4.5 µm, and 0.05 MJy/sr ...

STRUCTURE IN THE e ERIDANI DEBRIS DISK

New submillimeter images have been obtained of the dust disk around the nearby K2 V star e Eridani, with the total data set now spanning 5 yr. These images show the distribution of dusty debris generated by comet collisions, reflecting clearing and perturbations by planets, and may give insights to early conditions in the solar system. The structure seen around e Eri at 850 mm and published in ...

. Magnetic field , rotation and spectrum of 40 Eri B

This paper describes results of magnetic field measurements of white dwarfs carried out on the 6–m telescope for the last years. A magnetic field of about Be ≈ 28 kG has been discovered in the degenerate star WD1953–011 which has been selected from high–resolution spectroscopy of non–LTE Hα core by Koester et al. (1998). A rotational period of WD0009+501, 1.83 hours, has been discovered, the av...

The two hybrid B - type pulsators : ν Eridani and 12

The rich oscillation spectra determined for the two stars, ν Eridani and 12 Lacertae, present an interesting challenge to stellar modelling. The stars are hybrid objects showing a number of modes at frequencies typical for β Cep stars but also one mode at frequency typical for SPB stars. We construct seismic models of these stars considering uncertainties in opacity and element distribution. We...
